Jack Raney

I’m a finance and operations person in Dallas.

Jack Raney

I started in commercial real estate debt, underwriting more than 50 bridge, mezzanine and construction deals at Thorofare Capital after studying real estate development at USC. At MARA I was the only analyst under the VP of Finance for 18 bitcoin mining sites and $516 million a year in power, and when I was asked to look into our power bills, I proved $1.8 million in billing errors. Along the way I taught myself to build AI agent systems: first Archibald, to run my own finances, then Otian AI, which I co-founded in July 2026 to do the same for small businesses. The thread through all of it: I go into the numbers, find what doesn’t tie out, and build the thing that keeps it from happening again.

Also: at MARA I supported the strategy team on AI chip economics and Tier III data center strategy, and gathered field data for a 5-year cost comparison of air and immersion cooling. Since 2023 I’ve managed a long-term digital-asset allocation for my own and my family’s capital, and I completed Maven’s Crypto Academy in 2024.

If you’re working on something hard to run or hard to finance, I’d like to hear about it. Email is the best way to reach me, at jlraney99@gmail.com. I’m also on LinkedIn and GitHub, and you can see what I’m building at otianai.com. My résumé has the details, with a PDF to download.

Outside work, I’m an Eagle Scout and was senior patrol leader of an 80-member troop. At USC I was new member educator for Sigma Chi and helped raise more than $100,000 for the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

This site shows the work behind my résumé. The ERCOT charts use public 2025 prices. Charts marked illustrative use made-up numbers, because the real ones belong to my past employers.
